ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS & ILLUMINATION ENGINEERING DESIGN LABORATORY
(EE - 67A)

The course provides knowledge, understanding and skills in designing electrical wiring system for residential, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities through the specifications and standards mandated by the Philippine Electrical code and provisions from the Local Government on Electrical Wiring Installation. The course includes illumination design and cost estimation; energy-efficient lighting systems for residential, commercial, and industrial establishments; roadway lighting, and lighting maintenance.

LABORATORY REQUIREMENTS OF THE SUBJECT

General Instructions:
     1. Submit the Requirements not later than the Due Date as indicated below; 
     2. All Requirements will be sent thru my Email Address in PDF Format;
     3. In submitting any of the Items, write at the Subject of the Email with the following format: Surname_Subject_Item (Example: FLORES_EE-67_FLOOR PLAN);

Due: February 7, 2023

The Floor Plan shall be with (1) SCALE, (2) DIMENSIONS (in SI Units), (3) LABELS (at the wall sides)

LIGHTING LAYOUT

Due: February 14, 2023

The Lighting Layout must include the: (1) lamps, (2) switches, (3) panelboard, (4) wiring connecting lamps, (5) wiring connecting switches, (6) circuit homerun with branch circuit number.

CONVENIENCE AND 
SPECIAL OUTLETS

Due: February 21, 2023

The Convenience and Special Outlets must include the (1) panelboard, (2) circuit homerun with number, (3) convenience outlets, (4) special outlets for electric range and air-conditioning, and (5) wiring connecting the outlets.

SCHEDULE OF LOADS

Due: February 28, 2023

The Schedule of Loads must be in matrix format which include the (1) tabulated information, (2) total power, (3) total current, (4) type and size of the main wire, and (5) main breaker setting.

SINGLE LINE DIAGRAM

Due: March 7, 2023

The Single Line Diagram shall include (1) service entrance arrow, (2) KWHR Meter, (3) breaker with settings, (4) sizes of the conductors and the type, (5) spare - at least one.

LEGEND AND SYMBOLS

The Symbol and Legends must include all symbols used in the design that can be found in PEC and/or created only by the designer.

The Site Map shall include the (1) north pointing arrow, (2) road/streets, (3) landmarks, (4) name of owner, (5) distance from the road/street, (6) arrow labeled with "This Site".

COMMERCIAL COMPLEX

Due: April 11, 2023

Complete Electrical System Design of a Commercial Complex including Emergency Lighting System and Standby Power Generator. (1) Group into 6 members, (2) Visit the University Planning Office and ask for the Floor Plan of (a) College of Engineering, (b) Mindanao Engineering Center, and (c) College of Veterinary Medicine, (3) Redesign the Building into Commercial Complex, and (4) Design the complete Electrical System.

INDUSTRIAL PLANT

Due: May 2, 2023

Complete Electrical System Design of an Industrial Plant including Emergency Lighting System and Standby Power Generator. (1) Group into 6 members, (2) Visit any processing plant in the campus ask for the Floor Plan, (3) Redesign the Building, and (4) Design the complete Electrical System of the building.

ELECTRICAL PLAN & ESTIMATES

The video shows the activities on how to (1) make and design electrical plan, (2) specify the location and placement of the outlets and switches, (3) compute the load requirement, (4) make Schedule of Loads, (5) draw the single line diagram, (6) draw the site maps, and other items in the electrical plan and estimates.
